A free RoomSketcher alternative for measured floor plans
If you want a measured floor plan of your home, SimpleDraw is a free alternative to RoomSketcher. It runs in your browser with no account, and you can export your plan as a PNG free. The optional Plus upgrade is just US$10 a year.
In comparison, RoomSketcher needs an account and an installed app before you can draw. Its free plan gives you two starter credits, then each floor plan you export costs US$4. Its Pro plan is US$144 a year.
We make SimpleDraw, so we're keen to emphasize its advantages. But we're also happy to be clear about those cases where RoomSketcher might be a better choice.
RoomSketcher is the stronger tool for realistic 3D images, drawing on a tablet, and turning an existing plan or a room scan into a floor plan. If none of these apply, then SimpleDraw might be a better fit for you.

Choose SimpleDraw if…
- You want a measured floor plan without creating an account or installing anything.
- You want a completely free option, and are happy to save your drawings as files on your computer.
- You want to export your plan without paying for each one.
- You want to walk around your design in VR. Plus works with Meta Quest and other VR headsets. RoomSketcher has no VR headset support.
- You want wall lengths shown on your plan without a US$144-a-year subscription.
- You want customizable furniture items, for example a set number of chairs around a dining table. In RoomSketcher, a six-place and an eight-place dining table are separate catalog items, rather than one table you can configure.
- You draw more than floor plans, such as elevations, garden layouts and site plans.
Choose RoomSketcher if…
- You want to draw on a tablet.
- You want realistic 3D photos and 360° views of your rooms.
- You have an existing plan and want AI to turn it into an editable one, or you want to scan a room with the LiDAR sensor on an iPhone or iPad.
- You'd like someone to redraw your plan for you, as a paid service.

Is RoomSketcher free? What each one costs
RoomSketcher is free to draw in once you've made an account.
The free plan comes with two starter credits. After that you pay as you go: US$4 for each 2D floor plan, 3D floor plan or 3D photo.
A Premium Project costs US$28. It adds a 3D walkthrough and floor plans for one project, for a year.
Pro is US$144 a year or US$24 a month. It adds measurements, tracing over an existing plan, and five credits a month to spend on projects, floor plans and 3D outputs.
SimpleDraw is free for drawing, saving to your computer and exporting PNGs.
Plus is US$10 a year, less than a dollar a month. It adds full color, drawing over a PDF or photo, 3D and VR walkthroughs, cloud storage for 100 drawings, version history, private sharing links, and exports without the SimpleDraw logo.

Can I move my RoomSketcher plans to SimpleDraw?
SimpleDraw can't open RoomSketcher projects. The easiest route is to export your plan from RoomSketcher as an image or PDF, add it to SimpleDraw Plus as a background, set the scale from one known measurement, and trace over it.
